sea nymphs known as the Nereids. The sea god Poseidon punished her by
sending a sea monster Cetus the sea monster to devastate
the coast of King Cepheus' country.
Andromeda the
daughter of Cassiopeia and
King Cepheus was to be sacrificed to the monster,
however she was saved by Perseus - The Rescuer (see
the story of Andromeda).
Cassiopeia was punished by being placed in the
sky near the north celestial pole around which she revolves, upside down, then
right side up, from night to night.
