If you have purchased TheSky Pocket Edition (or TheSky Pocket Edition with Pocket TPoint) and received an email with a password and serial number, please follow the step-by-step instructions below to download TheSky Pocket Edition* now.

Note: A password and valid serial number are required to install TheSky Pocket Edition and TheSky Pocket Edition with Pocket TPoint. Each is provided in an email that is sent to you when your order is processed. A valid serial number is also required when requesting technical support from Software Bisque.  

If you have purchased TheSky Pocket Edition but do not yet have a valid password and serial number, please wait until they are emailed to you before downloading the software.

*TheSky Pocket Edition is distributed as a "purely digital product" (PDP).  This means that the entire product (installation software, documentation, help files, additional celestial object catalogs, etc.) is distributed in electronic format via the Internet.   

Step-By-Step Download Instructions

1. You must join and sign in to the Software Bisque Support Corner to download TheSky Pocket Edition from the Software Bisque web site. Do not proceed to step 2 until you do so. See First Time Users for details about joining and signing in to the Software Bisque Support Corner.

2. Before installing TheSky Pocket Edition, completely uninstall all earlier versions from both the mobile device and the desktop or notebook computer.

3. On the desktop or notebook computer, temporarily disable all anti-virus software prior to running TheSky Pocket Edition setup application. Otherwise, an error message stating "Setup cannot launch iKernel.exe..." may appear.

4. If you're personal computer is running Windows XP, then Install the latest release of Microsoft ActiveSync on the desktop or notebook computer and connect the mobile device. Consult the documentation that comes with your mobile device for complete instructions for setting up the mobile device. Note: ActiveSync version 3.5 or later is required for computers that run XP. Windows Vista does not require ActiveSync.

5. Determine which Windows Mobile Device you own. Either a Windows Mobile (Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2002 or Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile Device) device, or older Palm-size PC, or Handheld PC.

6. Click on the appropriate link in the table below to display the File Download dialog box and begin downloading the appropriate installation program for your device.

7. On the File Download dialog box, click Save This Program To Disk and then click OK.  This displays the Save As dialog box.

8. From the Save As dialog box, make a note of the current folder.  This is the location on your local hard drive to where the setup file will be downloaded.  

9. Click OK. This will begin copying the installation file to your computer. The length of time required to copy this file to your computer depends upon the speed of your Internet connection.

10. Once the file has been successfully copied to your computer, navigate to the folder in step 4 and launch the executable from your notebook or desktop computer.  Do not copy the setup file directly to the mobile device. To launch TheSky Pocket Edition setup application, locate the setup file on your computer using Explorer and then click File | Open. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 

Note: TheSky Pocket Edition setup may need to update system files (MFCCE30.DLL and OLECE30.DLL) on the mobile device in order to run properly. When prompted, answer "Yes" to replace these files.  See TheSky Pocket Edition User's Guide for details about these files.

10. After installing TheSky Pocket Edition, don't forget to enable your anti-virus software.
