TheSky6 Help |
After you have successfully connected your telescope to your computer or Windows Mobile Device, initialized the telescope, and established communications, you're now ready to slew the telescope from TheSky.
Note that the procedure for performing telescope slews is identical for all telescope models.

Use the mouse to click on any object in TheSky, or use the Edit | Find command to locate a particular object, and then click Find.
On the Object Information dialog box, click the Slew button
.

TheSky's Large and Small Object Information dialog boxes
TheSky will now command the telescope to slew to this object.
If you wish to slew the telescope to a known coordinate (using either altitude/azimuth or right ascension/declination), use the Move To command.
To Slew to Specific Coordinates
Click Orientation | Move To.
On the Move To dialog box, enter the desired coordinates, and the Epoch of the coordinates, and then click Slew.

Another slewing technique is to right-click the mouse over any object, and then click the Slew command in the pop-up menu.

TheSky Pocket Edition's Screen
Tap on the object you wish to point the telescope, or use the Find command to locate the object.

Tap Slew.
The telescope will now slew to the object. The Slew text changes to Abort during slews. Tap Abort to terminate a slew.
Make sure the object is above the horizon. TheSky will not permit the telescope to slew to objects below the horizon (to avoid damaging the telescope).
Make sure that the telescope is properly aligned and/or synchronized before attempting a slew. If not, you may encounter an error message.
If the coordinates of the telescope cross hair do not match the coordinates of the telescope, then make sure the telescope's location, date, time, time zone and Daylight Saving Time settings match TheSky's settings.
TheSky will post a warning message if you attempt to slew near the Sun.
