TheSky6 Help |

Use the Catalogs/Astrometry tab to turn on and off TheSky6's core stellar databases.
Charting Databases Group
This group contains options for turning on and off TheSky6's core star charting databases.
Guide Star Catalog
Mark this option to turn on the Guide Star Catalog. The ubiquitous Guide Star Catalog has become a standard cross reference, and although the stellar positions are not extremely accurate, this catalog is complete to 14.5 and is used by many astronomers (and cross reference catalogs) to identify stars.
Hipparcos/Tycho Catalogs
Mark this option to turn on the Hipparcos and Tycho stellar catalogs.
Astrometry Databases Group
This group contains options for turning on and off TheSky6's core star charting databases that are excellent resources for performing precise astrometric computations.
UCAC 2
Turn on or off stars in the UCAC 2 catalog.
USNO B1.0
Turn on or off stars in the USNO B1.0 catalog.
USNO A2.0
Turn on or off stars in the USNO A2.0 catalog. Professional Edition Only
USNO B1.0 (80 GB)
Turn on or off stars in the USNO B1.0 catalog. Professional Edition Only
Proper Motion Group
This group contains options for computing proper motion of the stars.
Compute
Mark this option to compute the proper motion for stars.
Draw Vector
Mark this option to draw a vector (line with an arrow) that shows the magnitude and direction of the stars' motion over time.

Stars with proper motion vectors.
Note: Edit the Star Line property to change the color or line style of the proper motion vector.

The Object Information dialog box shows the magnitude of the proper motion in right ascension and declination. The units are milli-arcseconds per year.
Vector Length (years)
Enter the length of time, in years, to compute and draw the the proper motion vector.
