We plan to use TheSkyX with a Paramount MX+ to run our University's public observatory.  The idea was for the individual student observatory assistants to log into the control computer (Windows) with his/her own student account and run TheSkyX from there.  The question:  Does TheSkyX store its calibration files (i.e., pointing maps) and default parameters in a common location (like up in Program Files), so that all users of the  program on the computer  access this same information?  Or would each individual users need to set the defaults and do a pointing calibration?  (If so, this sounds like this is not a reasonable approach, and a single "observatory" account would be a better approach.)

Thanks for any info.

Excellent!

Not by default. The settings are normally stored under the user account's documents folder so that each may have personalized settings. You can, however, configure TheSkyX to instead use common settings for all user accounts. See our knowledge base article Changing Where TheSkyX's Settings Are Saved.

If the settings are shared among multiple users, just be aware that a change to the settings will affect all users. This can, of course be desirable, but it can also mean that an "improper" setting will negatively impact all users. We would highly encourage you to periodically back up your settings. See Backing Up TheSkyX's Settings and Restoring TheSkyX's Settings.

Finally, if you haven't already, you should contact our Front Desk staff about obtaining a site license appropriate to your application, as the standard Software License Agreement is intended for an individual.
