    Catalog Request

The Flat Galaxy Catalog would be great!

    Ok I found the/a source.

Now. There are a lot of fields available for the data.

    http://vizier.cfa.harvard.edu/viz-bin/VizieR-4

Basically if you can look at the site and select the fields you want in the data compling it is trivial. The only issue is TheSky SDB's can only have 8 fields of information. So there might be some doubling up of fields. Also I see there is a Red and Blue SIZE for the galaxies. The default appears to be Blue Major and Minor axis which determines the size in arcminutes displayed in TheSky.

For now I guess I can use the default field selecting and just compile the data into an SDB. At that point you could easily just edit the text file and change the header anyway you see fit. Adding or omitting fields as you like.

Let me see what I can do.

Attached is a Flat-Galaxy SDB for you to try.

The SDB must be added to your existing list of SDB's. There are details here,

    http://www.bisque.com/tom/Createown/SDB/sdb.asp

This data file is compiled as object type Reference Point Epoch 2000 coordinats. Make sure Reference Point is enabled View | Display Explorer | Reference Objects | Other Reference | Reference Point with a check mark.

Note: This data does not have any unique ID. I have chosen to use the PGC data for the Search field. Meaning to search this data use Edit | Find Flat-Galaxy then the PGC ID to search. I have also included pretty much all of the fields in the data so you can see this information when clicking on them or Edit Finding them.

They are reference type so you can distinguish them from the other galaxies. Note the position descrepency comes from the data set I found on the web. The PGC entry for position is more accurate from my spot checking.

Also visit this page for the Abell Galaxy Cluster SDB. Basically all applies here regarding labeling, searching, etc. Just use Flat-Galaxy instead of Abell and you should be set. If not just ask.

    http://www.bisque.com/tom/data/Abell/Abell-GalaxyClusters.asp

    Sample: Edit | Find Flat-Galaxy 73181 returns,

    Object name: flat-galaxy: PGC73181
    Magnitude: 15.8
    Equatorial: RA: 00h 00m 10s   Dec: -34°25'34"(current)

    Re: Catalog Request

Mightily impressed Tom! Brilliant piece of work and quick too! I confess I still find compiling SDBs rather confusing (parameters, fields etc) so this has been a great help. Have it loaded into TheSky6 and looks great. Will be using this a great deal as fuel for my unhealthy obsession with these remarkable objects. I'm sure others will find this a useful asset too.

Once again, many thanks for your speedy response and hard work. Am most grateful!
