Thanks,

Others are successfully using their Mac's with the BlueStar device. Any BT compatible serial device should in theory just work when properly configured. This actually isn't really a question of TheSky supporting it per sey. I mean if you have the proper settings configured for the BT serial device it will just work.

I say in theory only because I have seen where several customers were pulling their hair out trying to get certain BT serial adapters to work on the PC. Won't name brands here. When two individuals were convinced it was impossible I had them send me their units. So far there hasn't been one that I could not use after usually more than an hour of learning the device. And in all cases every connection made from the PC or Pocket PC was in my opinion really a pain!

Not the case with the Mac.  When I took a previously configured BT serial adapter and discovered it the telescope worked first try without a glitch. And best of all after a complete reboot of the scope and Mac I could then reconnect a second time completely automatically. No pin no headaches simply pressing connect.

Guess the only other potential issue is someone else cannot get this same device to work because the device is logging in as COM PORT 40. And because the telescope options in TheSky6 are only allowing for connections on COM PORTs 1 - 20 (special case based on the interface) he has not found away to get it to work. Nearly all scopes are actually supported on COM PORTS 1 - 255.

Yes.   This devices are alternatives to hard-wired serial ports.  The BlueStar is just a Bluetooth Adaptor that allows a computer to communicate wirelessly with a serial device (like a telescope).

This page describes how to connect TheSky6 using Bluetooth (also applies to TheSkyX):

I use Bluestar together with the LX200ACF and laptop (Windows Vista Premium) with integrated Bluetooth it connects right away to SKY X.

Select the correct com port in the bluetooth driver prograam, reset Bluestar, type a code, in my case 0000 and the laptop connects to Bluestar.

You need the right cable look at the LX200 group for the correct cable LX200 serial port to Bluestar.
