Updates Defined
Software Bisque periodically makes free updates to our software
through the Software Bisque

updates are accessible through
links on the
Download

represent the most up-to-date
versions of our software for the
casual user.

Hot Fixes
Defined
Software
Bisque periodically posts
"hot fix" updates to our
software on the
Download Hot Fixes for our high-end
users.
Hot
Fixes:
-
are Software Bisque's attempt to
respond to our customers as
quickly as possible and keep our
software—and
you—on
the cutting edge of astronomy.
-
are
very recently released versions of
our software that contain fixes to
newly reported bugs and may
contain minor
software enhancements and support
for newly released industry
hardware.
-
typically represent Software
Bisque's response to feedback
from our high-end users who have
found a problem that prevents
them from getting a specific
task accomplished, or a response
to a "must-have" feature from
our high-end customers enabling
them to continue their work.
-
are
eventually migrated to the updates page
or will be part of a future
release. If, for example, we
fix a bug that affects a majority
of our customers, the hot fix is
quickly migrated to the free
updates page. Once a hot fix version
contains a sufficient number of
bug fixes or minor enhancements
that are beneficial to the
majority of our customers, it is
migrated to the updates page or
offered as part of a paid upgrade.
-
can
typically be used in a production
environment. Software
Bisque makes a concerted effort to
ensure the stability of a hot fix. For a period of time after posting
a hot fix Software Bisque is more
sensitive to the feedback of its
customers and those on associated
users groups who install the hot
fix.
-
unfortunately may occasionally
introduce new bugs so there is
some risk involved in installing
them. In this case, Software
Bisque will attempt to respond
in a timely manner and correct
the situation but cannot be held
responsible for any downtime as
the user understands the
risks/benefits involved in using
a hot fix. Uninstalling a hot
fix may require uninstalling
completely, reinstalling from
the original media and updating
from the free updates page.
-
that
contain minor enhancements are
typically not as well documented
as those enhancements found in a
free update. When the hot
fix is migrated to a free update
its enhancements may receive more
extensive documentation.
