week (shown about 30 minutes after sunset each evening).

Jupiter and Venus are rapidly closing in on Mars this month,
illustrating that the planets' positions are not static.
Venus and Mars will be closest on December 21st, the night of
Winter Solstice.
(Positions shown are just after sunset every seven days beginning
November 11th.)
