This month is a good time to look for the planets Venus, Jupiter and
Saturn. Venus can be seen shortly after sunset in the southwest...
(Shown about an hour after sunset for mid-Northern latitudes)

...and Jupiter and Saturn are prominent a few hours later in the east.
Additionally, the just-past Full Moon will appear near Saturn on the night of
October 15th, and near Jupiter the night of the 16th.
