"How to use the Moon and Your Fingers to Measure Distances in the Night Sky"

Scheduled air date: 2001 Mar 26-Apr 01

The Waxing Crescent Moon will approach the giant planets Saturn and Jupiter this week, appearing next to each on the evenings of March 28th and 29th, respectively.  The separation between these two bright planets in our skies is slowly increasing, growing from 9.5 at the beginning of the week, to 10 by its end.
(Shown about 45 minutes after sunset for mid-Northern latitudes.)
