Scheduled air date: 2006 Dec 04-10

This weekend the planets Mercury, Mars and Jupiter make a fantastic display in
the pre-dawn skies.
(Shown about 45 minutes before sunrise this December 9th
through 11th for mid-Northern latitudes. Inset shows magnified view for December
10th.)

The display is the result of a conjunction—or alignment—of those planets
as seen from Earth.
(Perspective view of our Solar System from above the plane
of the Ecliptic for December 10. Note that Venus is visible in the evening sky.)
