The Waning Crescent Moon appears near the giant planet Jupiter this weekend. On
the morning of January 15th, the Moon appears less than 1.5 degrees directly
below the red star Antares.
(Shown about one hour before sunrise for mid-Northern latitudes.
The insets show the positions of Jupiter's largest moons—Io, Europa, Ganymede
and Callisto—for January 14th and 15th.)
