Mythology

Delphinus - The Dolphin

After the gods won their war against the Titans, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades took control of the sky, the sea, and the underworld, respectively.  Poseidon built himself an opulent undersea palace, then went about looking for a suitable queen.  He fell in love with Amphitrite, one of the sea nymphs known as the Nereids, but she refused his advances and fled.  Poseidon sent, among others, a dolphin to search for her.  The dolphin found her and through kind words convinced her to return to Poseidon.  The two were married and Poseidon honored the dolphin by placing him in the sky.
