a SOFTWARE BISQUE APPLICATION IS UNABLE TO CREATE NEW DOCUMENT

    ISSUE

Clicking the New command from TPoint or Orchestrate results in the error message “Failed to create empty document.”

    RESOLUTION

If clicking the New command from TPoint or Orchestrate's File menu results in the error message “Failed to create empty document” then a necessary component is either missing from the computer, is not registered properly with the system, or is out of date.

The following files must reside in the System folder (by default, it is named C:/Windows/System) of the user's computer:

    • MFC40.dll (version 4.1.6038 or later)

    • ComDlg32.dll

    • OLE32.dll

    • OLEAut32.dll

    • OLEPro32.dll

    • VCF132.ocx (version 3.1.3.1 or later is required)

If one of these system files is missing, contact Software Bisque.

If each of the above files is present, then the file VCF132.ocx is either not registered properly with the system, or is the incorrect version (sometimes newer), or an older version of this file resides in a system folder on the computer, and Windows has loaded the incorrect version.

    To register VCF132.ocx:

    1. Verify that the latest version of VCF132.ocx is present in the Windows System folder. If version 3.1.3.1 is not present in the Windows System folder, then manually copy the newer version from TheSky6's

    2. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt (Windows XP).

    3. On the Command Prompt window, type:

c:/ “ENTER”<-- Changes to root of drive "C"
cd/Windows/System “ENTER” <-- Navigates to the System Folder
regsvr32 vcf132.ocx “ENTER” <-- Registers the OCX. where “ENTER” means press the Enter key on your keyboard.

The message “”DLLRegisterServer in vcf132.ocx succeeded.” shoud appear. This properly registers the OCX file with the system.

TPoint should now be able to create a new document.

See “Registering a DLL or OCX” for more information.
