RESTORING THESKY‘S DEFAULT SETTINGS

ISSUE

You may wish to restore all of TheSky‘s settings to their defaults. (To restore settings from a backup instead, see Backing Up and Restoring TheSky‘s Settings.)

RESOLUTION

To restore all default settings

1. Exit TheSky.
2. Rename the settings folder for your edition (for example, add “old” to its name). The folder’s name is TheSkyX followed by your edition, such as TheSkyX Professional Edition, and it is located in:
   • Windows: Documents\Software Bisque
   • macOS: Library/Application Support/Software Bisque (in Finder, hold down the Option key, click the Go menu, and choose Library)
3. Start TheSky. A new settings folder with the default settings is created.
4. Enter your name and serial number when prompted.

Your previous settings remain in the renamed folder. To go back to them, exit TheSky, delete the new settings folder, and give the renamed folder its original name.

To reset only the Sky Chart

To restore the default Sky Chart settings while keeping all others (including the site location), use TheSky‘s File > New command and respond Yes when asked, Would you like to restore the default Sky Chart settings as well?

NOTE: TheSky‘s User Guide refers to the settings folder as the Application Support Files (ASF) folder.
