THESKY DOES NOT INSTALL PROPERLY IN GERMAN LOCALES
ISSUE
If a German Locale is selected as the current Regional Setting for Windows, when TheSky v5 is installed, many critical files are missing (including TheSky.exe and its icons).
RESOLUTION
If TheSky v5 fails to install properly (for example, its icons are missing and the file Sky.exe is not present), check the Regional Setting. Software Bisque has confirmed a problem installing TheSky to German locales on the latest mastered CD-ROMs (1999-Apr-15, version 5.00.004). An error in an internal setup script incorrectly excludes files during installation.
The following procedure will allow you to install TheSky successfully on your computer (be sure to have your Windows 95, 98 or NT OS disk handy).
1. Uninstall the existing copy of TheSky (if possible) and delete its folder.
2. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click the Regional Settings icon.
3. On the Regional Settings Properties window, click the Regional Settings tab.
4. Note the current regional setting, then select “English (United States)” from the list and click OK. (Insert the operating system CD when prompted.)
5. After the new files are installed, RESTART the computer (very important).
6. Install TheSky, which should complete correctly. If you experience additional problems, please contact Software Bisque’s Technical Support staff.
7. Repeat steps 2-5, but replace the English (United States) settings with the original regional setting.
For the long term solution, Software Bisque will replace your current CD-ROM with a CD-ROM that can successfully install under Germal Locales. At this time we do not have a specific date as to when this CD-ROM will be available.
