WHY CAN’T I USE A DIFFERENT FOCUSER FOR THE “IMAGER’S BUILT IN AUTOGUIDER”

    ISSUE

By default, CCDSoft automatically uses the focuser of the Imager for the autoguider when the autoguider is set to “Imager’s built in autoguider.” For most SBIG dual CCD cameras, this is the desired behavior as the Imager and Autoguider share the same light path. However, for the SBIG STL model cameras that have an external autoguiding head, this may not be the case.

    RESOLUTION

Obtain CCDSoft 5.00.139 or later and make a registry setting that allows the “Imager’s built in autoguider” to have a different focuser from the Imager. Check http://www.bisque.com/hotfixes periodically as version 5.00.139 was not available at the time this article was published.

    1. Exit CCDSoft.
    2. Start the registry editor (Start, Run, and type “regedit” and press OK).
    3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Software Bisque/CCDSoft/CCD CAMERA.
    4. Choose Edit, New DWORD Value and name it “bForceDualCCDsToShareFocuser” and set its value to zero. Close the registry editor.
