CCDSOFT’S AUTOASTROMETRY COMMAND FAILS USING VERSION 5.00.156
ISSUE
After installing CCDSoft version 5.00.156, AutoAstrometry fails with the message:
“Image Link failed because there are not enough stars in the image. Try adjusting the image’s background and range. Error code 651 (0x28b).”
RESOLUTION
The CCDSoft version 5.00.156 update distributes a file that modifies the Source Extractor default parameters that are used to locate stars in the image. These default settings are too strict, and prevent CCDSoft’s Research | Show Inventory algorithm from detecting sufficient stars in the image, so the Image Link fails.
Modify the Source Extractor settings to resolve this behavior.
To modify the Source Extraction’s ‘Detection Threshold’ parameter:
-
From CCDSoft, click Research | Analyze Folder of Images | Pre-Analyze command.
-
The Folders dialog box appears. Select the folder of images to analyze. If you’re analyzing a single image, click Cancel and repeat Step 1.
-
On the Data Analysis tab, click Source Extraction Setup.
-
On the Source Extraction Setup dialog box, edit the Detection Threshold value to 2 (or a value less than 10) and then click OK twice.
CCDSoft will now detect the fainter stars in the image, and AutoAstrometry will find the astrometric solution.
Please read the article AutoAstrometry and Image Link Technical Details (2.8 MB) for more information about these features.
