GALAXIES NEAR GCVS SS SIGNI DO NOT PRINT

    ISSUE

Two small galaxies near the variable star GCVS SS Signi (MCG0-1-14 and 15) do not appear on the print preview screen nor on the printed star chart.

    RESOLUTION

If an object does not appear on the Print Preview screen, first check to see that the metafile for this object is present. Do this by identifying the object, then click the Preferences button on the Object Identification dialog box. On the Preferences dialog box, click the Symbol tab and verify that a symbol appears in the Sky Chart Sample. If a symbol does not appear, click the Edit button and select one.

Next, verify that the object’s line style and fill are not set to white (or some other color that does not appear on the printer). From the View menu, click Preferences. Select the correct object from the Object Description list box, then verify the Line color and Fill colors in the Sky Chart sample.

If the object still does not appear, first try decreasing the Field of View to see if the objects appear. Printed objects may be plotted using a symbol or as an extended object (an ellipse), depending upon the current field of view. Some printer drivers cannot print very small ellipses, therefore, by zooming in, the ellipse becomes bigger and will be printed.

You can verify that an object is present on the printed page by displaying its Label. Use the Extended Tab on the View, Labels, Setup dialog box to specify the object’s label, then turn on Extended Labeling using the View, Labels, Extended Labels command.
