ERROR MESSAGE “WRONG VOLUME IN DRIVE” DURING INSTALLATION

    ISSUE

For multiple disk installations, an error message appears that the wrong volume is in the drive during installation.

    RESOLUTION

This is a known issue with the InstallShield installer. The InstallShield installer is attempting to delete temporary files, and must use a file on the first disk to do so.

See the InstallShield Knowledge Base Article Q103036 for details about this behavior.

Please note that this message does not affect this installation of TheSky6.

    To end the installation normally

    1. Insert disc 1, wait for the drive to be recognized, and then click the Retry button. Note that when TheSky6 Disc 1 is reinserted, the installation screen will reappear (that is, the AutoRun software tries to start the installation over). Click Exit to close this window.

To avoid seeing the error message

    1. Copy the contents of the installation disc and (Disc 2 for Serious Astronomer Edition or Disc 2 and Disc 3 and Disc 4 for Professional Edition) to a temporary folder on your hard drive. When prompted to insert the next disc, click the Browse button and select the appropriate .CAB file on your hard drive, rather than the CD-ROM drive.

Software Bisque does not have additional information on the issue at this time.

The article was previously published under SBKB number 1004.

    APPLIES TO

TheSky6 Serious Astronomer Edition, TheSky6 Professional Edition
