GREEK SYMBOLS FOR BAYER OBJECT LABELS DO NOT APPEAR CORRECTLY IN THESKY POCKET EDITION

    ISSUE

When the Bayer descriptions are turned on, small squares appear on the Virtual Sky instead of the Greek symbol.

    RESOLUTION

The file named “Symbol.ttf”, a true-type font that contains the Greek letters, must be present on the Windows Mobile Device in order for the Bayer symbols to appear correctly in TheSky Pocket Edition.

In order for Bayer designations to be labeled properly, the file “Symbol.ttf” must be copied from your desktop or notebook computer to the “/Windows/Fonts” folder on the mobile device. The location of the file “Symbol.ttf” on the desktop or notebook computer may vary depending upon your version of Windows. Use the Search feature to locate this file, and then use the Explore command from the ActiveSync application to copy the file.

This issue is covered in detail in TheSky Pocket Edition manual in the section “Labeling Objects by Name or Catalog Number.”

Note that you must exit and restart TheSky Pocket Edition after copying this file to the mobile device. See TheSky Pocket Edition User’s Guide for details about exiting the software.

    APPLIES TO

TheSky Pocket Edition and TheSky Pocket Edition with Pocket TPoint.
