CLICKING ON the virtual sky displays A PHOTOGRAPH, AND NOT THE OBJECT INFORMATION DIALOG BOX

    ISSUE

I want to view information about an object by clicking on it, not a photograph.

    RESOLUTION

Image symbols (that is, small graphical “bitmaps” that resemble a 35mm SLRs) on the Virtual Sky represent an object that has a picture. Clicking on an image symbol displays a picture of an object instead of the object’s information.

    Image Symbol

    Actual size:

    Expanded view

    • To override the automatic display of pictures when clicking on an image symbol, press the SHIFT key to display the Object Information dialog box instead.

    • To turn off the image symbols:

    TheSky6

    1. Click View |  Display Explorer.

    2. Navigate to the Reference Objects | Other Reference node.

    3. Clear the Image checkbox.

    TheSky version 4 and 5

    1. Click View | Filters and clear the Image checkbox.

    2. Click OK.

    APPLIES TO

TheSky version 4, 5 and 6, all Levels, all Editions.
