ADDING MINOR PLANETS USING LATEST ORBITAL ELEMENTS

ISSUE

How Do I Add Minor Planet 4179 Toutatis (or other) to TheSky?

RESOLUTION

TheSky version 4, 5 and 6 can automatically download and display comets and minor planets from the world wide web. Adding new ones is easy.

For example, to add the unusual minor planet “4179 Toutatis” to TheSky:

1. Click Data | Comets and Minor Planets.
2. Click the Minor Planets tab.
3. Click the “Unusual” button.
4. Select “4179 Toutatis” from the list of unusual minor planets.
5. Click OK.
6. Click OK.

Done!

To find the object:
1. Click Edit | Find.
2. Enter MPL 4179 Toutatis.
3. Click Find.
