DISPLAYING OUTLINES FOR EXTENDED OBJECTS IN THESKY6

    ISSUE

TheSky version 5 showed an outline (or filled polygon) for many nebulas. How can I show the same outlines in TheSky6?

    RESOLUTION

Outlines for extended objects are stored in Sky Database Files. To view outlines in TheSky6, enable the Dark Nebula and/or Bright Nebula Sky Databases.

    1. Click Data | Sky Database Manager.
    2. From the Sky Database Manager window, navigate to TheSky6’s SDBs folder. By default, the location of this folder is:

    C:/Program Files/Software Bisque/TheSky6/Data/User/SDBs

    3. Select the files named “Bright Nebula.sdb” and/or “Dark Nebula.sdb” and then click add.
    4. Click OK.

TheSky6 will now display outlines for many common bright and dark nebulas. Note: These outlines only appear at smaller fields of view. Use TheSky6’s Center and Frame button on the Edit | Find dialog box to quickly zoom to the desired object.
