TELESCOPE DOES NOT KEEP STARS IN THE TELESCOPE’S FIELD OF VIEW

    ISSUE

When TheSky is controlling my telescope, objects drift out of view. Can TheSky improve the telescope’s ability to track?

    RESOLUTION

TheSky does not perform telescope sidereal tracking, and does not modify, improve or degrade a telescope’s ability to track on objects. This is up to the telescope.

If the telescope is not tracking on objects,

    1. Make sure that the telescope’s tracking rate is set to the “Sidereal” tracking rate. Note that not all telescopes support different tracking rates.

    2. If the telescope is mounted equatorially, try improving the polar alignment.

    3. Try using an eyepiece that has a smaller magnification (that is, wider field of view).

    4. Make sure the telescope’s location, date, time, time zone and Daylight Saving Time settings are accurate.

    Important Notes:

    * TheSky does not control telescope tracking.
    * TheSky cannot improve (or degrade) the tracking capabilities on commercial most commercial telescope mounts. That is, the ability to track on stars is the responsibility of the telescope mount.
