“CANNOT FIND WSOCK32.DLL” WHEN RUNNING THESKY

    ISSUE

After successfully installing TheSky version 4.0, and attempting to run it, an error message “Cannot find WSOCK32.DLL” is displayed and the program cannot start.

    RESOLUTION

WSOCK32.DLL is a core component of the Windows 95/NT operating systems. Meaning, this file is installed when Windows 95 or NT is installed, and applications can rely on it being present on the system.

Verify that the file exists on the system (right-click Start, select Find). If it does exist, make sure the path is correct (../WINDOWS/SYSTEM). For Windows 95, this file should be version 4.00.950 (65KB).

As a last resort, reinstall Windows 95/NT.
