CD-ROM STUCK IN ACCESS LOOP

ISSUE

The application (e.g. TheSky) tries to access information from its CD-ROM, but the drive enters a continuous access loop and the software locks up, or “hangs”. Need to reset the machine to proceed.

RESOLUTION

There may be a problem with the drive accessing a specific region on the CD-ROM disk. Try carefully cleaning the non-silk-screened side of the CD-ROM disk (wipe straight outward from center with clean cotton), and try it again.

In an EXTREMELY rare case, the CD-ROM may have a permanent defect which requires replacement.
