SS32.DLL IS OLD AFTER INSTALLING THESKY UPDATE
ISSUE
TheSky version 5.00.004 installs and runs fine. After installing the update to version 5.00.007, launching TheSky gives the following error message: “SS32.DLL is old and is not compatible with this version of TheSky.”
RESOLUTION
If an error message displays that a DLL is out of date, (for example “SS32.DLL is old and is not compatible with this version of TheSky”) when TheSky is launched, an older version of the DLL resides on the computer and must be updated.
This error is only encoutered when there is a duplicate of the file on the users computer -OR- there was a problem updating the older DLL with the newer DLL during setup.
To resolve the problem:
1. Click Start > Find > Files or Folders and enter the name of the outdated DLL. In the “Look In” list, select the Local Hard Drives option, then click Find. There should be only one copy of the DLL in the C:/Program Files/Common Files folder. Delete all other copies. Launch TheSky.
2. If the error message persists, delete all copies of the DLL, then reinstall the software (or the update to the software), then launch TheSky.
