AUTOSTAR UNABLE TO SET LATITUDE BETWEEN 6-9 MINS.

    ISSUE

When communicating with the Autostar version 1.3 via its built-in serial port, the Autostar set latitude command (“:St DD*MM#”) returns an error when attempting to set the latitude when the minutes input is 06, 07, 08 and 09.
To duplicate this behavior, run HyperTerminal (9600, 8, None, 1, No Flow Control) and send a “:St 43*06#” command. The return value from the Autostar is 0, meaning the set latitude command failed.

    RESOLUTION

    This is a
limitation with the Autostar version 1.3.

    Resolution

Use the Autostar’s hand controller to
set the correct latitude or specify your latitude in TheSky to something
    other than 06, 07, 08 or 09 minutes.

    More Information

Contact the telescope’s manufacturer to determine if an
updated version of the firmware is available.
