CANNOT LABEL NGC OBJECTS WITH THESKY 4.0

ISSUE

Cannot Label NGC Objects with TheSky 4.0. Turned on exteneded labels, and NGCs IDs checked.

RESOLUTION

The NGC labels will not appear at fields of view greater than 50. Viewing an area larger than this is the most common reason for labels not appearing.

If you still don’t see NGC labels:
1. Make sure the NGC’s ID (or other desired data) is enabled under the View, Labels, Setup, Extended dialog.
2. Make sure the Extended Labelling is on (View, Labels, Extended Labels or select the Extended Labels button from the View toolbar).

You may also want to:
4. Enable the Data, Other Preferences, Show Overlapping NGC and PGC Galaxies option.
5. Enable the PGC’s ID (or other desired data) under the View, Labels, Setup, Extended dialog.

You may define a label prefix (such as “NGC”) for these, and other catalogs, under Sky Chart Prefixes in the File, Page Setup dialog.
